acer aspire one 00 300x257 10 inch Acer Aspire One details popping up all over the globe with conflicting specs

New details have emerged about Acer’s 10.1-inch Aspire One netbook that was officially announced the other day.

Despite the fact that the official announcement revealed one specific model of the Aspire One 103, details from numerous websites are indicating that there will be more than one flavor of the new netbook.

In the Philippines, a product page for the Aspire One 103 at online retailer PC Corner, claims the netbook is shipping with the upcoming Z280 Intel Atom CPU with the GN40 chipset rather than the more common Z270.  I was under the impression that Z280-powered netbooks wouldn’t be shipping until closer to the summer, while Acer’s official announcement pinned the 103’s release in February.  While I’m leery about the validity of these specs, PC corner is listing the Acer Aspire One 103 for PhP 25, 995 or roughly US$598.

Over in France, the 10-inch Aspire One is being called the D150 and comes in three different models: the D150-0B, the D150-1B, and the D150-1BG.  The 0B and 1B have specs in line with Acer’s official announcement, but the latter won’t ship until March with its only difference being a more powerful battery.  The two models will cost € 329 (US$425) and € 349 (US$450) respectively.

The D150-1BG will also ship in March, but will sport the Z280 processor and 3G connectivity in addition to the features of the other two models.  The 1BG will cost € 449 (US$575).  This seems to be in line with the 103 shipping in the Phillipines, from a specification and price perspective.

What’s the deal?  Are we all talking about the same Aspire One here?
