“9 out of 10 people in Africa navigate with Garmin,” said a recent radio ad by the GPS maker. Apparently one Joanne Macgregor didn’t appreciate Garmin’s lofty portrayal of its African market monopoly because she filed a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa stating the commercial was misleading. Why? Apparently most Africans find directions with their nose (someone please explain that to me!), ask for them, or on occasion use a map. Garmin has apparently pulled the ad despite a review by the ASA tossing out the complaint. Doesn’t Ms. Macgregor have better things to do?
