Acer’s Aspire One D150 has been unboxed and caught on video over the weekend and things don’t look particularly good–at least from a design perspective. The netbook is only up for preorder in most countries, but the folks at netbooknews.de managed to get their hands on the D150 and initial impressions found the netbook to feel “cheap” compared to other netbooks. As Chris Davies from Slashgear points out though, “Then again, Acer’s netbooks generally have been cheap, which is one of the reasons they’ve sold so well.”
Unfortunately the video demo furthered the suggestion that the D150 is poorly designed. First off, despite the fact that Acer moved the trackpad buttons to a more ergonomically correct position, the pad is too small. Second of all, the display is too glossy. Then again, these are subjective opinions and other users might not be bothered by these details.
If anything, the Aspire One D150 does have a nice, powerful 6-cell battery and it’s now up for preorder on Amazon for a nice, cheap $349.99, although not with solid-state drive and operating system options. You can check out the unboxing and video demo after the cut.
