Acer’s 10-inch Aspire One netbook has been inching closer to release in North America, but upon seeing pre-release prices in France and the Phillipines the other day I was wondering if it would be affordable.
Despite international prices sitting between $400 and $600, J&R’s website has the Aspire One up for preorder priced at $349.99. Now that’s not a bad price, and it’s even lower than the initial $399 price rumored a while back.
The retailer’s spec sheet isn’t any different than what we already know, but according to Liliputing, followup releases after the expected February debut will offer a number of new options. The current release features Windows XP and a 160 GB hard drive, but Liliputing says the newer releases will have the option of including the Linpus Linux Lite OS and a 16 GB solid state drive.
If that’s the case and with a $350 price tag, Acer might as well get rid of that 8.9-inch Aspire One. And quick tip, Akihabara News has some new pictures.
