pnd k3msn Alpines PND K3msn gets official with MSN Direct

Last month Alpine drastically cut the price of its PND-K3 GPS system in order to set up for the launch of its connected PND-K3msn.  Today the company has made the K3msn official.  Aside from the addition of MSN Direct, the PND-K3msn is similar to its predecessor with a boxy design, 4.3-inch display, text-to-speech, NAVTEQ maps of the United States and Canada, Bluetooth, an SD card slot, and mapping visuals like Highway Junction Views and One-Way Street Icons.

MSN Direct all the usual real-time features we’ve seen before including traffic updates, weather reports, gas prices, movie times, news and local event information, and stock prices.  All of these are complemented by 6 million points of interest.  It also has a “Send to GPS” feature that allows you to search for places on your computer via Live Search Maps, and then send the corresponding information directly to the K3msn.  The downside is that it’s only available in 134 metropolitan areas across both the United States and Canada.

Priced at $299.95 and available now, the Alpine PND-K3msn comes with three free months of MSN Direct, after which you’ll have to shell out $49.95 per year or a one-time charge of $129.95.
