If you’re an Android developer you can get your hands on a T-Mobile G1and either stay in the carrier’s coverage area or take the time to unlock the device. Not only is it a giant pain in the ass, it’s also not your only option. Yesterday the Open Handset Alliance popped the Android Dev Phone 1, easily attainable by signing up as an Android developer which’ll require a $25 one-time fee and then plopping down another $399.99 for the phone.
The great thing about the Dev phone is it comes to you SIM- and hardware-unlocked allowing it to be used virtually anywhere. Shipping is free in the United States, but you’ll have to pay extra for international delivery to any of 18 additional markets.
