Earlier this month we heard that multi-touch was coming to T-Mobile’s G1, not from Google, but from the independent dev community. At the time, it was possible to get it up and running in a rather primal way not suited to the majority of us, but the same hack has been unofficially released in a, um, slightly more usable version. Well, not really. You still have to gain root access to Android and probably void your phone’s warranty, but hey, as developer Luke Hutchinson points out, “This is a proof of concept, people.” It will get better as it goes along, but multi-touch for Android is definitely worth it.
