Archos has just announced that it’ll be releasing a new Internet Media Tablet later this year running on Google’s Android operating system and with voice support, added in the latest RC33 Android update. The successor to the Archos 5, the new tablet incorporates Texas Instruments’ OMAP3440 ARM-based processor. Despite being a low-power processor, the OMAP3440 allows the Archos tablet to offer up Adobe Flash/Flash Video full screen support, TV recording and high-definition playback in all formats, and up to 500 GB of video storage. Amazingly, the new Archos can support 7 hours of continuous video playback on its battery. The 10mm thin tablet will have a high resolution 5-inch display with full width page viewing and 3.5G 7.2 Mbps HSUPA. I would imagine it’ll support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and likely have GPS functionality although none of these features are confirmed. Keep an eye out in the third quarter of 2009 when Archos’ Android-based internet tablet with voice support will hit shelves.
