ASUS is looking at the possibility of adopting Qualcomm chips for use in its extremely popular Eee PC’s, according to Samson Hu, general manager of ASUS’ Eee PC arm.

What could that mean? If ASUS were to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform, Eee PC’s could one day have GPS functionality.  However, this could be a ways away.  Hu says the company doesn’t currently have any mass production plans for non-Intel Atom netbooks.

Additionally, contrary to reports that ASUS would eliminate its 8.9-inch models, the company will continue to produce them in small amounts for telecom and government procurement markets.
