Some specs for the ASUS S121 netbook have emerged from a showcase at CES 2009. According to Computerworld, the S121 features an 11.7 x 8.3 inch touchscreen, weighs 3 pounds and is under one inch thick. It also has a massive 512 GB solid state drive, the largest ever in a netbook, and rivaled only by a Toshiba-branded 512 GB SSD in terms of storage capabilities. The S121 will run a WIndows operating system powered by a 1.33 GHz Intel Atom processor and has an 8 hour battery life.
With the ASUS-developed SSD, the S121 won’t have a netbook price. In fact, it’s expected to retail for $1, 649 when it becomes available about a month from now.
It’s also likely that future ASUS netbooks will run Windows 7 when it’s finally released if this quote by Microsoft’s David Fester means anything:
“We’re deeply partnered with ASUS on Windows 7.”
So far no other specs have been revealed.
