I’ve never considered Best Buy’s house brand Insignia to be even a potential player in the PND market at any level. Come October 19 though, Best Buy will be releasing a couple of Insignia PND’s-the NS-CNV20 and NS-CNV10-that bring the Insignia brand into the same realm as companies like Dash Navigation. Both GPS navigators will have built-in cellular modems enabling full internet connectivity like the popular Dash Express , the only fully connected PND available in the United States at the moment.
The internet connection will allow the Insignia GPS devices to access Google Local search, real-time traffic data, and plan routes on a home PC via Google Maps then forward them to the PND. The NS-CNV20 features a 4.3-inch display and Bluetooth and will cost $499, while the NS-CNV10 will have a 3.5-inch screen and cost $399. Both devices will have no service fees for the first year.
They’re expected to be available in all Best Buy outlets and online come the release date.
