BlackLine GPS is at it again, but instead of focusing on covert people-and-animal surveillance, they’re just trying to keep your precious vehicle safe from sticky-fingered thieves.
The BlackLine Seeker uses a two-wire connection to your car’s battery, using either a 12V or 24V power system, to set up a perimeter or geofence whenever you leave your car. The geofence is monitored by a key fob you can attach to your keychain, and should your vehicle leave the set perimeter when you’re not around, you’ll automatically receive a text message. BlackLine’s Recovery Service also works with local law enforcement to help track the location of your car.
We should mention that the key fob detects you when you re-enter the perimeter to start your car and drive off, so you don’t end up on your knees with your hands in the air for nothing. Available in early 2009, the BlackLine Seeker will retail for an estimated MSRP of $350, and the BlackLine Recovery Service is additional $20/month or $200/year.
