Location-based social network Brightkite, in private beta since the end of 2007, has finally launched to the public. The platform can be used as a friend finder, but adds in quite a few tweaks not found on other LBS networks. If you like Twitter, you’d like Brightkite. You can view your friends updates in real-time with location information added, should your friends opt-in to the feature. Plus not only can it be used in mobile application form–they have an iPhone app–but also on the dot-com web, and updates can be received via email and SMS.
