Mobile phone GPS has its limitations. Being indoors can interfere with satellite signals as can urban constructs like bridges and highrises. The good thing is that Broadcom will now be integrating Wi-Fi technology from Skyhook Wireless into its cellphone chips so that these types of limitations will be eliminated. In heavily populated urban areas Wi-Fi networks can be found everywhere, and Skyhook’s technology enables mobile phones to augment GPS signals with Wi-Fi location to more accurately determine your location.
