ASUS R700t Gets Reviewed

ASUS R700t GPS

The ASUS R700t PND saw its debut at CeBIT 2008, and has now been officially picked apart by CNET.  This is the first GPS unit from ASUS, so given CNET’s tough critics we weren’t sure what to expect, but it looks like the R700t faired well.  Definite pros were the units slim design, an integrated traffic receiver with a free subscription to the associated traffic services, integrated Bluetooth, and 3D building renderings.  On the downside, the ASUS R700t doesn’t have text-to-speech, pretty much ubuiquitous among top GPS units these days.  Also CNET claims that route recalculations weren’t always efficient and the general performance of the PND could be slow at times.  Given this is a market first for ASUS, the R700t doesn’t look to be too bad at all.
