Magellan Triton, Explorist Handhelds Get AccuTerra Maps

Magellan Triton-models 400, 500, 1500, and 2000-and eXplorist-models 400, 500, 600, and XL-handheld GPS models will now feature AccuTerra Maps from Intermap Technologies providing outdoorsy types topographic maps and off-road points of interest such as campgrounds, landmarks and service facilities.  A land management data layer also separates public land from private property for most America recreational landscapes.  The maps are downloadable from the Magellan website for use this summer for all lower 48 US states and Hawaii but they’ll set you back $59.99.

Magellan RoadMate 1430 Now Available At Amazon

Magellan’s RoadMate 1430, unveiled at CES in January, is finally available for purchase.  The top-of-the-line model rounding up the RoadMate 1400 series, the RoadMate 1430 features NAVTEQ maps of the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico and live traffic updates.  None of the other 1400 models feature the live traffic capability.  The ultra-thin model can be mounted in your vehicle or used portably, has over 60 million preloaded POIs, and now ubiquitous text-to-speech.  With a widescreen 4.3-inch touchscreen display and an Auto Night View feature illuminating the display in the dark, you’ll have no problem seeing this unit at all and with an accuracy within 3-5 meters, the RoadMate 1430 will get you exactly where you need to go.  Oh, and one more thing.  It has an SD slot for adding extra POIs or maps.  The Magellan RoadMate 1430 is now available at Amazon for $400.
