Clear Standards, a company that provides enterprise solutions to assist in identifying energy-related cost savings, is moving to the individual consumer world. Not that it’s giving up its core business, but knowing that people like us are some of the key culprits emitting tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere everyday, it is targeting iPhone-carrying, carbon conscious consumers with an iPhone application.
Carbon Tracker is a GPS-enabled iPhone application that helps consumers manage their carbon footprints. Using averages put together by the World Resource Institute, Carbon Tracker correlates travel distance measured by GPS with typical carbon outputs of given transportation methods to show you the amount of CO2-related damage you’re doing to mother earth.
If you feel compelled to do something about the problem, Carbon Tracker even lets you set monthly maximum emission goals to shoot for. The application is available as a free download from the iTune’s app store.
