marijuana Cops stumble upon a 2 acre marijuana field in Google Earth

Geez, it’s an exciting day for Google’s mapping team.  Police in Switzerland have discovered a 2 acre marijuana field surrounded by corn in the Thurgau region of Switzerland while using Google Earth.  According to AP, police were using the satellite imagery tool to locate the address of two people being investigated for their involvement in a drug ring.

The cops found more than the address they were looking for, resulting in the seizure of 1.2 tons of marijuana, 900, 000 francs in cash ($780, 000), and the arrest of 16 people who prosecutors say will be charged next month.

The alleged ring apparently sold 3 to 10 million francs worth of marijuana and hash per year from 2004 to 2008.

Now that’s a lot of green!
