One of my favorite companies mentioned here lately is modu, a handset manufacturer that produces attractive modular cellphones and provides customized jackets to throw in that personalized experience. Over in Barcelona, the company has announced a couple of new deals. First off, an exclusive agreement with Lynk Communications to bring the modu phone and jackets to the Philippines in the second quarter of 2009. The order, valued at $38.5 million, is the first of several expected in the region. Second off, modu has set up a trial run of the modular phones via Telefonica in Mexico, Argentina and Chile in order to broaden the choice of mobile phones available in the Latin American countries. Also, today modu revealed the modu music jacket, equipped with a pair of JBL Odyssey speakers and manufactured by PCH International. Expect modu’s first branded jacket to launch later in 2009.
