DeLorme Earthmate GPS PN-30 and PN-40 owners can now download the 2.6 firmware update which adds some handy new features to the handheld navigators. Hook up your Earthmate to a PC or Mac via a USB connection, download the update and you’ll have access to: Navionics HotMaps Premium Lake Maps 2008 and 2009 plus Gold+ Marine Maps on an SD card, Navionics Tide Stations, an enhanced geocaching details page, faster average speed calculation and tide station accuracy and, finally, an electrical fix that reduces the chance of a reset when the device is hotswapped on a USB port. The only downside? Navionics HotMaps Platinum, Marine Platinum and Platinum+ aren’t supported quite yet.
