Imagine one day downloading applications to your car in the way iPhone users download mobile apps from Apple’s app store? Sound futuristic? Well it is, but not too futuristic. Hughes Telematics, a company set to launch next-gen communications systems for Chrysler and Mercedes-Benz this summer, aims to have said applications ready to go in 2010. Example applications include carbon trackers, iPhone remote start over the internet, and theft prevention cameras that snap and picture of thieves and email it to you. The possibilities are endless…but what about viruses?
