iPhone application developers looking to embed maps in their apps have things a little easier now with the availability of Route-Me. The open source mapping library built using Objective C and the CoreAnimation framework supports OpenStreetMap, Microsoft Virtual Earth, and CloudMade map sources. And because it utilizes a BSD license, Route-Me can be used for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. There is also an “embedding guide” available from Google Code that shows developers the ins-and-outs of using the library to speed up application development.
