Faulty MStar chip responsible for GPS deaths on June 14

If your portable navigation device, GPS tracker or recorder mysteriously shut down on June 14, a faulty chip from MStar Semiconductor is probably to blame.  The positioning solution suffers from some sort of computing error, impacting products from Panasonic, Taiwan’s Supa Technology and Globalsat Technology, and China’s Newsmy, Quanzhou Truest Communication, and Mesada.  Some of the companies, including Supa, are offering free repair services for effected customers.
