You know what they say about exercise.  Not only is it great for your physical health, it’s also food for the brain.  Something about increased blood flow to the cerebral mass results in great ideas.  For some of us anyway.

Entrepreneur James Park, inspired by the physical demands of the Nintendo Wii, tried to come up with other ways of combining fitness and games.  The process resulted in the invention of the Fitbit Tracker, a tiny gadget that clips to your clothing and, using motion sensing, keeps track of things like calories burned and sleep patterns.  The information is then sent wirelessly to a base station that in turn sends the information to a website for analysis.

At first glance this might sound like another late night infomercial-type gadget, but it’s not.  Fitbit, only founded in 2007, raised $2.4 million in October 2008.  The Fitbit Tracker will go on sale this month for $99.

  • Games are now try to make people get more excercise and moving in stead of sit in front of the computer all day and Wii is one of the good example, so this gadget is interesting indeed!

This is great , in a country in which obesity levels are getting higher every month, fitness awareness is what is what we all need , so people grab a few Pedometers and walk more to be healthier

The math to loosing weight is rather simple. You have to monitor your calories intake and use. If your intake is greater than the calories used, you have no chance of getting thinner. If you use more than you intake, you just might succeed. I found a free diet plan and a calories tracker over the internet and I am able to lose weight without any professional help. That is what Fitbit Tracker is all about.

Tracking calories is very important especially for people that have many, many extra kilos. Such people can't jump right into fitness exercises because that might kill them because of the high blood pressure. They need to follow a diet first and people are very anxious about getting results, even small ones. Small results can't spotted with the clear eye, but such a device could offer a positive feedback for such persons.

  • This device is a briliant idea to track calories! I will put this on my wishlist...
  • It would be interesting to see the results from a user of the product, to see what you can draw from the stats. Might be good if someone started a blog to track their progress.
    Great Post
  • Do you really need to wear such device? I don't think tracking someone's health requires a gadget and all that. It can all be done inside the gym with your fitness instructor. So not unless if you're crossing the border and on a problematic obese, you need to wear this. I suppose this is designed for obese folks...
  • FitBit looks like a really interesting device and a good way to track calories and sleep and whatnot. It seems like it works similarly to the BodyBugg that the contestants on The Biggest Loser where except that FitBit isn't as noticeable and isn't strapped to your arm. Oh, and FitBit is cheaper too.

I also mentioned them in the latest episode of my video show The Web Mix which was all about finding sites on the web for health and weight loss and fitness.
