Garmin has introduced the Approach G5 golf-specific GPS navigator this morning at CES. Anyone who can afford a country club membership can undoubtedly afford the $500 price tag the Approach G5 carries, and with hundreds of pre-loaded maps for golf courses across the United States what golfer wouldn’t want to dish out the cash. The 3-inch touchscreen device tracks you as you make your way along the fairway–or in my case, rough–and continually updates your exact distance to the flag. It’ll also let you know how far away you are from course hazards–it is waterproof it this feature doesn’t help out your skill set–and measures the length of each shot. Unfortunately though it can’t tell you where exactly your ball landed…if only. Garmin’s Approach G5 will be released in the second quarter of 2009.
