CNET has put together a review of Garmin’s entry-level nuvi 205W and not surprisingly the unit earned high marks. Though it’s about as basic as you can get for a Garmin GPS, the nuvi 205W is targeted at a group of potential customers looking for a basic device that’ll get from point A to point B without all the fancy features. Because the unit is so simple, it’s also extremely quick, not only from a cold boot but when it comes to routing, rerouting and finding points of interest. It’s 4.3-inch display packs WQVGA resolution and it has the Where Am I? feature common to all Garmin GPS units, which as CNET points out is a great feature for relaying your location in an emergency or finding your bearings in an unfamiliar city. If you’re looking for a basic GPS unit, Garmin’s nuvi 205W is a solid buy given its low price.
