It’s raining netbooks these days and it doesn’t help that manufacturers license tangible creations to other brands. Not that I’m complaining. Formerly Acer Aspire One, later Packard Bell’s Dot, and further on Gateway’s LT1001G when it appeared in Singapore, the oft-mutated netbook has unexpectedly shown up in a Redmond, Washington Office Depot. This time dubbed the Gateway LT1004U, it has familiar innards including Intel Atom’s Z270, 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB drive, and runs WIndows XP. The 9-inch netbook is selling for a nice and doable $379, but whether it turns up in other American locations…only time will tell.
