Google has been busy in the past weeks adding new features and updates to its user-generated Map Maker platform. In mid-February, several new languages were added to Map Maker, as well as transit routes and schedules for a swath of new cities. Now for those that prefer to have their own hands on the steering wheel, driving directions have been added.
Driving directions are available for all 164 countries currently supported by Map Maker, and like all other map features, can be edited by users. Because the driving directions are overlayed onto the original map layer, some intersections or incomplete roads will stand out as being in need of edit. And, because the platform is user-generated, you’ll likely come across wrong directions in some areas. Of course, the whole idea here is that should this happen to you, then you edit the map so it’s correct!
