Google Maps has provided suggested routing from point A to point B for some time now.  And while it’s a great feature, the dominant factor in determining which route is best is efficiency.  But what if you have some time on your hands and you’d prefer something a little more scenic?  Or what if there are two or more suggested routes, equally efficient, and you’d like to see them compared on the map?

Google has made that possible, rolling out an additional Suggested Routes heading that will show routes deemed as equally good as the ‘best’ route.  The whole idea here is to make Google’s suggested driving and walking routes a little more personal by enabling YOU to choose what route YOU think is best.

In addition, you can also add the Traffic/Transit layer on top of the route comparison if you’d like to compare traffic flows on the routes or use My Maps to share your favorites.
