Over the weekend, Google announced an updated version of Google Maps for Android that is compatible with both HTC Magic and G1 smartphones. The new version integrates voice search and both transit and walking modes for 250 cities. It also integrates Street View imagery more tightly with the maps so it is no longer a separate map mode. Google Latitude is also integrated into the new app, letting you share your location with friends and even post updates and chat. The new Google Maps for Android won’t be pushed to your phone this time however. You’ll have to download it yourself from the Android Market.
