Google Street View business listings: Augmented reality for lazy people

streetview business 300x288 Google Street View business listings: Augmented reality for lazy peopleBusiness search is now available in Google Street View, reminding me of the variety of augmented reality browsers and applications that are so hot currently.

Now, when you search for points of interest using Google Maps, you’ll have the option in the results box of clicking a “Street View” link.  If you click on it, you’ll see the corresponding business highlighted with a map marker in Street View’s imagery.  You can still spin around 360 degrees, and zoom in and out, in order to see what surrounds the business.  Furthermore, you can access the “Search nearby” function from within Street View and see the search results marked in Street View as well.

This is a pretty cool, not to mention useful, feature.  Google Maps business listings are great, but sometimes it’s nice to see a real-world image of what you’re looking for; especially when you’re in unfamiliar surroundings.
