Google Toolbar with My Location arrives

google toolbar Google Toolbar with My Location arrivesGoogle has announced Google Toolbar Labs today along with its first experimental feature–Google Toolbar with My Location.  Similar to Mobile Search with My Location, which launched last September, Google Toolbar with My Location aims to make desktop-based searches quicker and more accurate by factoring in your location.

This may seem much like Google’s local search, announced earlier this month.  But while local search relies on IP address to find location, Google Toolbar with My Location takes advantages of nearby wireless access points to enable a more accurate location reading.  And for the privacy-concerned, no location information is associated with your Google account.

Unfortunately, Google Toolbar with My Location is only available in the United States currently and is only compatible with Internet Explorer 6.0+.  If you meet the requirements, you can download the toolbar here.
