Apps, Other Devices

BeetaunThe other day I briefly described Beetaun for you, one of the top 50 Android apps selected by Google.  The Beetaun website didn’t contain a whole lot of info so I emailed the guys and got some more tidbits about the location-based app.

First off it’ll be available in two versions, one for Android and one for the web.  Because Android apps are reliant on Google’s mobile phone release the web version will be first to the market.  It’ll be open to beta testers and more info will be available when Beetaun redesigns their site in the near future.

So what is Beetaun as described by the creators themselves?

Beetaun is going to be a social network uniting active and curious people from all over the world: people who have something to tell to others and people who are wishing to know more from others. “World” - will be the central point of pooling of interests. That’s why, supporting the basic features of social networks (friends, messages and others) we orient towards geographical content. One of the basic units of interest (among others) in Beetaun will be “place”. We think that each place should be related to some interesting fact that others may not know for example. And we will make an efforts to filter such places. Of course, this is not all about Beetaun.

Beetaun

The guys provides some general use cases as well:

  • sightseers would be able to find interesting places in cities they’re exploring based on the shared experiences of other Beetaun users
  • you could share interesting locations in your city for visitors
  • joggers could use Beetaun to create interesting new running routes that combine points-of-interest with exercise

We look forward to more in the future from Beetaun!
