Mobileyes: Real-Time Navigation Using Video

Driver’s in Detroit, Michigan with an in-car GPS system always have the option of real-time traffic data to help them avoid artery-clogging issues while navigating the Motor City’s roadways.  3rd Dimension, a mobile marketing and application company, offers a solution that’s a little more innovative and definitely different.  The company’s new Mobileyes service gives drivers access to more than 600 of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s traffic cameras in the Detroit area, helping drivers find the most safe, efficient and cost-effective ways of wheeling around the city.

Mobileyes is a downloadable video application compatible with data-enabled phones on the Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile wireless networks.  Users of smartphones such as the Blackberry, Palm Treo and Motorola Q can access the service from anywhere.  Already available in other American metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Indianapolis and Washington, DC, Mobileyes can be accessed by heading to freetrafficcams.com and entering your mobile phone number.  Once downloaded, drivers in the Detroit area will be able to view near real-time traffic video and even choose favorites for oft-travelled routes.

While the application is free, we all have to make money somehow, so expect to be greeted by the odd advertisement.
