Samsung announced the availability of its Mondi WiMAX handheld this morning in conjunction with the latest 4G Clearwire network rollout in Las Vegas.

The compact, black Samsung Mondi is a mobile handheld device, confirmed for the Clear Network back in April, that features download speeds up to twice as fast as 3G networks.  Features include:

  • 4.3-inch touchscreen display with customizable widgets
  • Pull-out QWERTY keyboard
  • Wi-Fi network access for use outside of Clear’s 3 current markets (Portland, Atlanta, Las Vegas)
  • Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile for email and business applications
  • Opera Mobile 9.5 internet browser
  • Turn-by-turn GPS navigation via Route 66
  • And Gypsii, Fring and Windows Live Messenger
  • 3 megapixel autofocus camera
  • And more

The Samsung Mondi is currently available from Samsung and as of August 1 will be sold through Best Buy outlets in Clear markets and Clearwire retail outlets.
