Mio

Mio and parent company MiTAC showcased a bunch of new GPS-enabled toys at IFA in Berlin including the Mio C728, Mio Leap G50 and MiTAC MiSTATION.

The Mio C728 features a huge 800 x 480 pixel WVGA 7-inch display that not only makes navigation a joy, but TV viewing as well.  The C728 has TV playback as well as support for DivX, MPEG4 and WMV video formats pretty well ensuring a shorter lifespan for anyone who owns one and mounts it on their dashboard.  Aimed at the European market, the Mio C728 has both DVB-T and DVB-H receivers for pulling in TV signals in pretty well any region in Europe.  Also featuring Bluetooth, the Mio C728 is expected to hit shelves in late October for 399 Euros.

The Mio Leap G50 is rather unexpected.  A GPS-enabled handset running on Windows Mobile 6.1, the Leap G50 has a 2.8-inch display, 2 megapixel camera, 400 hour standby time and a database of Western European maps.  Like the Mio C728, the Mio Leap G50 will hit Europe sometime in late October priced at 399 Euros.

MiTAC, the parent of Mio, launched the MiSTATION netbook at IFA.  Sporting a 8.9-inch display, the MiSTATION comes with preinstalled Mio GPS software and a receiver tucked into the front of the netbook.  The MiSTATION also comes with a variety of specs from which the buyer gets to choose.  Running on an 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, the MiTAC MiSTATION comes with either a 20GB SSD or 60GB hard drive, Windows XP or Linux, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, three USB 2.0 slots, and SD card slot, and even a VGA output.  Also headed to Europe, the MiTAC MiSTATION will make an official appearance in November starting at £282 for the 60GB Linux version running to about £400 for the 20GB SSD model.
