Hands-on with Google’s Nexus One reveals no multitouch, only T-Mobile 3G

Mobile tech blogger tnkgrl has managed to get a hands-on with the buzzy Google Nexus One, and while she wasn’t able to take any snapshots, she did share some new details about the widely anticipated phone with the world. Among the new details (some good, some not so much):

  • extremely thin with what appears to be an OLED touchscreen, sized the same as the Android-based Motorola Droid
  • 3G only works on T-Mobile USA’s spectrum while AT&T will be forced to use EDGE data speeds. No elaboration on what Google’s plans are for selling the Nexus One, though it’s “definitely unlocked”.
  • a “super snappy” processor
  • unfortunately there is no multitouch support (at least on the test device) for use with applications like Google Maps and the web browser
  • a pre-installed 4 GB microSD card (not sure if this will be included with the commercial device)
  • a 1400 mAh battery
  • microUSB port and gold ports at the bottom of the device (one of which may be for a car kit so the Nexus One can be used as a GPS navigator)
  • a HTC Sense-like interface (not surprising given that the Nexus One is manufactured by HTC)

I’m pretty disappointed about the multitouch support, or lack thereof, and hope some Canadian rumors begin to proliferate in the near future as well :) .
