Browsing through today’s press releases this evening, one from HelloMetro.com caught my eye. HelloMetro runs a network of city search website and despite being around since 1999, having over 1, 500 city guides and over 4 million unique visitors a month, I’ve never heard of them. So what’s so interesting about HelloMetro? The company has officially trademarked the term “hyperlocal”.
I’ve used the term numerous times in the past in reference to Outside.in, Citysearch, Yelp and a variety of other sites that segment search by locale. But now it’s owned.
