HP’s Mini 2140 is now available to order online and the specs reported at the beginning of January have been confirmed. Starter models begin at $499 with 1 GB of memory, a 160 GB hard disk drive spinning at 5400 RPM, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Windows XP Home. Higher-end models unfortunately opt for Windows Vista Home or Business, but upgrade to 2 GB of memory and a 7200 RPM drive. SuSE Linux and FreeDOS are also available as operating systems if you’re looking for a custom-made Mini, plus you can scrap the moving HDD in favor of a 80 GB solid-state drive and a more powerful 6-cell battery. The top price for a ready-made model is $779.
