Thanks to AT&T’s acquisition of Unicel’s assets in December, the 3G iPhone will be available to citizens of Vermont January 15. It will be available in all company-owned retail stores in the state including Unicel locations. The wireless carrier says that Unicel customers and new AT&T customers should bring a copy of their phone bill from their current service provider if they want to retain or port their current number to the iPhone.
The iPhone will cost $199 for the 8 GB version and $299 for the 16 GB model. Current customers not eligible for an upgrade can still get their hands on an iPhone but they’ll pay more–$399 for the 8 GB and $499 for the 16 GB. All plans require a 2-year contract. Current customers will have to pay an extra $18 upgrade fee while new customers will pay an additional $36 for activation. Fees, fees, fees.
