All the talk about the new 3G iPhone has left current iPhone owners in the dust, but if you’re one of the first generation iPhone owners don’t despair. The iPhone Software Update 2.0 will bring your iPhone 1.0 right up to speed with the new model. Coming soon, the iPhone 2.0 update is the operating system that is built into the 3G iPhone, but is downloadable to the first-gen model. Updated features include a redesigned calendar, input for Japanese and Chinese characters, instant messaging sans battery drainage, and an easier integration of applications. The download will be done wirelessly and probably be available sometime in July. Unfortunately iPod Touch users will have to put out $9.99 to get the software.
