Here we go again with the privacy bullshit. Computerworld’s Jaikumar Vijayan tells the tale of a slot on ABC’s Good Morning America last Friday that highlighted car rental agencies’ that discretely installed GPS units within the vehicle’s of customers with poor credit. Then he goes on to question the privacy implications in the situation. Should those parties renting cars be notified that they’re being tracked? He seems to think so. I think that a business loaning someone a 5-figure vehicle, knowing full well the renting party is a risk, can do whatever the hell they want. Guess what people: in the next few years every single mobile device will be GPS-equipped and there are no laws–as far as I know–mandating that trackers reveal to the ‘trackees’ they are being tracked. In this case? Bad credit? The result of your own poor choices. I’d stick a GPS device in your vehicle too.
