JVC isn’t a player in the portable navigation market these days, but it did come out with a new in-dash navigation system at CES. The KW-NT1 has a 6.1-inch detachable faceplate, “intelligent navigation software” with magnified viewing, lane guidance and speed limit display, as well as maps of the entire United States and Puerto Rico. Text-to-speech is available in English, French, and Spanish and you can create a personalized message to greet you when you turn on the system. Furthermore, you can hook up your iPod or iPhone to the KW-NT1 and control multimedia playback from the unit’s interface. Other features include Bluetooth, 6 million POI’s, DVD playback, and a front-mounted USB 2.0 slot. Slotted for a March release, the in-dash KW-NT1 is priced at $1, 099.05.
The company also upgraded its KW-NX7000BT in-dash navigation system to include a 7-inch touch display with a detachable faceplate, 12 million POI’s, and an included KS-BTA200 Bluetooth receiver enabling hands-free calling and contact management. The upgraded model will also launch in March for $1, 199.95.
