Anyone close to an Alzheimer’s patient knows they have a habit of absentmindedly wandering off, losing their bearings and getting into all kinds of unintentional trouble. Obviously this can cause all kinds of stress and worry for close friends and family. A company by the name of Keruve has developed a device that allows one to keep closer tabs on their ill friend or relative and at least partially alleviate some of the anxiety. The device consist of a waterproof GPS bracelet that attaches to the wrist and requires a special tool to remove making it tough to get off. The caregiver has a connected mapping device that shows the whereabouts of the person wearing the bracelet at all times, and if GPS isn’t an option at any given time the Keruve GPS Locator is AGPS-enabled so it can fallback on cell tower triangulation when needed. It’s not exactly cheap though–the device costs about US$1350.
