After what seemed like a fairly long period of silence in the latter half of 2008, GPS maker Magellan is becoming a lot more active in 2009, announcing the other day the RoadMate 1475T.
The 4.7-inch portable navigation device follows a growing trend, offering free, real-time traffic data supported by advertising. Its color WQVGA screen is naturally touch-sensitive, providing the interface for NAVTEQ maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, 6 million points of interest, multi-destination routing, Highway Lane Assist and Exit points, AAA TourBook listings and roadside assistance, spoken street name guidance and SmartCity Search. The $299 Magellan RoadMate 1475T is available now, joining its sibling RoadMate PNDs announced earlier this year.
