A few more details about Magellan’s Maestro 4700 have emerged after the GPS navigator appeared in the FCC database in May. It appears that its MiTAC influence has resulted in the first redesign in awhile. Its feature set and software seem to be an upgrade as well: 3D landscapes, predictive traffic alerts, a new address book, more space for bookmarked locations, larger fonts for easier readability, and a parking mode that remembers a vehicle’s location and automatically switches to a pedestrian mode. Because of the thinner form factor (despite its larger 4.7-inch screen size), Magellan also chose to incorporate a microSD card for storage. The Maestro 4700 will ship July 15 for $300.
