I have a feeling MapQuest will be plenty busy this year as the AOL-owned mapping platform continues to fend off the Google giant, Google Maps. The company’s first move of 2009 is today’s addition of My Places to MapQuest 4 Mobile. My Places lets you save routes and maps to your MapQuest profile and access them online or via your mobile phone. The new feature addition is part of MapQuest’s goal to seamlessly integrate the user experience of its desktop platform to the mobile phone.
Existing MapQuest 4 Mobile users will be prompted to upgrade to the latest version the next time the application is opened. New users can download the latest version of MapQuest 4 Mobile with My Places from m.mq4m.com. Currently the application is only available for certain Blackberry smartphones, however the company will add additional handset and mobile platform support in the near future.
