Microsoft has added INRIX has a real-time traffic information provider to its Live Search 411 service. Call 1-800-CALL-411 (1-800-225-5411) and you’ll be able to access free real-time traffic updates including traffic times, accident and congestion information in addition to other Live Search 411 services.
Launched in October 2007, Live Search 411 is a diamond in the rough, much more useful than Google’s Goog-411 service, but blessed with half the limelight. Aside from INRIX traffic updates, Live Search 411 also provides local business search, driving directions, local weather, gas prices, local movie times, airline and travel information, and even stock quotes and sports scores. It’s entirely voice-activated too. Give it a try and I promise it’ll be worth your while.
INRIX is also collaborating with Tellme Networks, the Microsoft subsidiary that provides the Live Search 411 infrastructure, to enable live traffic updates to the Ford SYNC service available on most 2010 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles.
