The last big update for Microsoft Virtual Earth was announced at the end of December. A huge 48 terabytes of data was added to the mapping platform affecting all tile sets with vector information including Road, Hybrid Aerial, and Hybrid Bird’s Eye. French, German, Spanish, and Italian support was also added as well as data for a variety of new countries, mostly in Eastern Europe.
2009 has started off slowly with the Virtual Earth team announcing a minor update to the road data in North America, Europe and Asia. Postal codes have been updated in the mentioned regions as well. For most, the update probably isn’t noticeable, unless, as Microsoft points out “your street wasn’t there and, well, it might be there now”.
If your street wasn’t there before and you think it might be now, head over to maps.live.com and see for yourself.
