A story in The New York Times last week may have misrepresented the intentions of Microsoft when it reported the company’s Window Mobile operating system would be used on less handsets this year. Microsoft told TamsPPC that there will not be a set number of handsets that will be using Windows Mobile. What the company will do is focus on the quality of the OS and work closely with manufacturers to perfect the integration process. That “may result in fewer phone models”, but it’s just collateral damage from a different focus altogether.
